Questions & Answers

Q: You have made an appointment, what happens now?

A: When you arrive for your first appointment, I will ask you to complete a short questionnaire so that I get to know about your dog. This will include your pet's history, veterinarian details, health and behaviour information as well as your contact details.

I will discuss your dogs grooming requirements and grooming style with you.

Q: How long will my dog's grooming take?

A: This depends on each individual dog as coat, condition, age, temperament, breed and style all all relevant factors when grooming a dog. When I meet you and your dog we can discuss any relevant issues as each client is different. My main concern is the welfare of your dog whilst in my care and to make it an enjoyable experience for both them and myself.

Q: Can I stay with my dog?

A: Most dogs behave much better without their owners there to distract them. I am happy to show you the grooming salon and talk you through the process.

Q: Will my dog be put in a cage/ cage dryer?

A: I do NOT use cage dryers, only hand held dryers are used and therefore the grooming time can be longer than with other groomers.

If I collect and drop off your dog, I will have to put your dog in a suitable travel cage to keep your dog safe.

I do not use a cage in my salon.

Q:Does grooming include Nails and anal glands?

A: Grooming always includes checking and, where needed, trimming nails. Exception to this would be dog that become overly aggressive or stressed to the point where it would be unsafe for me to provide this service. Most dogs go through their lives without experiencing any problems with their anal glands. If your dog shows irritation due to anal glands,  I recommend a check up from the vet to ensure that there is no infection or underlying reason for them to become full or irritated.

Q:  When should I start getting my puppy groomed?

A: After your puppy has completed its inoculations, make the grooming experience a part of your puppy's fun life as it grows up!

Too many puppies are omitted from the grooming process from an early age and therefore making it a less enjoyable and for some making it a frightening experience when they have their first groom as an adult. I am offering a special puppy grooming service for a reduced price. This will be done with special care, lots of cuddles and very gentle 100% natural puppy shampoo. The younger they start being groomed, the easier and more enjoyable it is for your dog.

Q: How much will it cost?

A: Charges will vary dependent on the breed, grooming style and condition of the coat. If you give me a call, we can discuss the grooming requirements and give you a guide price which we will be confirmed after meeting your dog and before grooming commences.

Q:My dog has fleas, can you help?

A: Fleas are a nuisance for both you and the dog. The only effective treatment that will really work has to come from your vet.

Q: Do you do hand stripping?

A: I do not usually offer hand stripping as it is a very time consuming process and the cost of our time would be prohibitive. Many breeds are hand stripped for the show ring and those exhibitors who own them are familiar with the grooming requirements.

Q: I am unable to keep my appointment, what do I do?

A: Please inform me as soon as you possibly can to re-schedule so I can refill the appointment time. If you need to notify me of a cancellation and want to re-schedule you can do this by calling me or sending me a email or text.

If you need any further information or have any further questions, please contact me by calling or email. I am happy to help.
